Tour the period rooms, World Heritage-listed facades, and interior courtyards at Le Bastion 23 - Palais des Rais, a complex of three Ottoman-era palaces and the last vestige of Algiers' traditional kasbah. Admire the palace's ornate tiled arches, vaulted ceilings with suspended metal lamps, painted railings, and latticed windows, plus views of the city. With its construction started in 1576, the complex bears many well-preserved Ottoman pavilions surrounded by 17th- and 19th-century domed mosques. Once the seat of the French governor, the palace also has many Moorish-style buildings that housed the 19th-century French nobility. Our Algiers vacation maker site makes visiting Le Bastion 23 - Palais des Rais and other Algiers attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Composed of three palaces it is the extension of the casbah towards the sea... You can also enjoy the beach which lies at its feet it is a pity that at the entrance we are greeted by the guardians of the place to the boring aspect... No professionalism.. And the tours stop between noon and 1pm! While it is an hour of great affluence!!!
This was a beautiful museum to visit. Make friends with the staff and they just might open some doors to rooms not normally open! more »
Yes, it is one of the best places in Algiers but it does not mean that is beautiful. It's a nice restored building for the defence of the coast. Sometimes, art exhibitions are hosted. Nothing special: you visit it in 20 minutes and the entry is cheap. People from Algeria find it beautiful simply because they proud and they cannot get a visa to visit other places.
one of our favorite museum in Algiers. the building with different parts is well maintained and has organized exposition. the views are stunning and the atmosphere is great. this place has bathroom for visitors but unfortunately no cafe. anyway, it is worth to reach and spend couple of hours there. accessible by metro.
