Palais d'Ahmed Bey, Constantine

#4 of 15 in Things to do in Constantine
Architectural Building · Historic Site
Even though Constantine's Ahmed Bey stayed here for only two years, Palais d'Ahmed Bey ranks among Algeria's finest Ottoman structures. French colonialists chased out the 19th-century ruler, and were then succeeded by the local army, who fortunately left the Ottoman-inspired architecture intact. Walk around the palace to discover courtyards surrounded by white arches, green walls, and colorful tiles that create awe-inspiring motifs and mosaics. Though closed for 25 years, the palace recently reopened after restoration. Use our Constantine trip site to arrange your visit to Palais d'Ahmed Bey and other attractions in Constantine.
