Trip Planner: South Pacific / Australia / New South Wales / Blue Mountains / Faulconbridge / Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum
Visit Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum to learn about the life and work of a prolific Australian artist who left his mark as a sculptor, writer, cartoonist, and scale modeler. The gallery/museum is a stone cottage sitting on 17 hectares (42 acres) originally purchased by Norman Lindsay in 1913. Several smaller buildings are also incorporated, including the two that Lindsay used as his oil painting and etching studios. Lindsay transformed the property over the years, adding classical colonnades, fountains, walking paths, and sculptures. The oil studio offers a rare insight into the artist’s personal creative space, which has been preserved exactly as it was when he died in 1969. Check online to make sure you don’t miss any special events, festivals, and workshops frequently offered here. Norman Lindsay Gallery & Museum Reviews
Such a beautiful place to visit, gorgeous home with unbelievable artworks painted by Norman Lindsay, beautiful grounds and excellent cafe to enjoy lunch after your tour more »
I had not previously heard of Norman Lindsay. I didn't grow up loving the Magic Pudding nor was I scandalized by his career painting women wearing fierce expressions and very little else. However upon... more »
This is a lovely historical house set in the beautiful natural landscape of the Australian bush. If you know and love Norman Lindsay (or even if you don't) , you will love this representations of his life through his art. The juxtaposition between his 'sirens' work and his Magic Pudding work is well curated. If can, get the guided tour. They have them at 11:30am and 1:30pm. We were walked through the gallery, the artist's studio and the etching gallery. The storytelling from the guide was definitely a highlight. The stories about Lindsay's life were great and really brought his artwork to life. The cafe is also worth stopping at too. Good coffee and nice staff.
Beautiful old house with gorgeous established trees, and pathways winding through the property, a great way to lose yourself in for a couple of hours. The cafe is well worth a visit, very good prices, nice filling proportions and well mannered, attentive staff. A lovely day out for those who yearn for yesteryear.
