Lights Alley, Brest

4.8
Walk down , where each lantern sculpture tells a story. Each gas lamp is part of an elaborate piece of metal artwork that pays homage to everyday people. Sit in an old carriage or on a bench below a little cupid with an arrow. See a giant nose sticking out from an officer's collar, illustrating a satire by famous Russian writer Nikolai Gogol. Other sculptures include a little shoe shiner, an artist's easel, a tradesman selling pretzels, and more. At sunset, the lamplighter starts turning up the lanterns by hand. You can watch a light show from one of the many small cafes nearby. Start your trip to Brest by creating a personalized itinerary on Inspirock.

  • A series of interesting and quirky sculptures associated with old street lamps is a must-see in Brest. It is a free attraction as well. Evening is a nice time to visit.  more »
