A symbolic landmark in Bruges, Belfry of Bruges represent a medieval bell tower in the historical center of town. The market hall and an inner courtyard stand behind the bell tower. Formerly home to the treasury and municipal archives, the bell tower now offers a view of Bruges from above. Climb the 366 steep steps to reach the tower's top and reap the reward of seeing the grid of canals from this vantage point. Listen to the 47 bells chime on the quarter hour as you hike your way to the top. The tower played a central role in the film "In Bruges." Belfry of Bruges Reviews
Queuing for approx 45 mins wasn’t too bad but paying €42 just to climb a bell tower was steeper than the actual steps. View was slightly spoilt by the weather but even so it’s no really worth the... more »
Seen a lot of bell towers but this one was worth the line!! As you go up you can see the music being played and if you stay up you can watch the bells chime! Great views! Worth it! more »
Not for the feint hearted, the climb to the top of very tight and steep. But once you get to the top the views are great and the history of the tower is amazing. There is a 50 person limit in the tower at anytime so you may have to queue to enter. We went at a quite time so no queues or getting stuck on the stairs going up or down.
Worth the wait to get up the Belfry. Great historical landmark, and rare insight into a functioning bell tower. The views are great from the top and it’s worth sitting in the drum room watching a 15 min tick over, and then heading up to see the next 15 min tick over in the top floor with the bells. Be careful on the stairs though, very narrow and not wide enough for people to go up and down easily at the same time. It was wet when we went and two people I saw slipped!
