Revolution Plaza, Havana

3.8
Visit the great public expanse of Revolution Plaza, which provides the Cuban government with a base of operations and doubles as a site for large-scale political rallies and state speeches. Observe the giant steel depictions of Che Guevara and fellow guerillero, Camilo Cienfuegos, which adorn the facades of the governmental buildings. Gaze up at the towering 109 m (358 ft) star-shaped memorial, dedicated to national hero Jose Marti. Bring a camera to capture the square's architecture, as well as the beautiful examples of 1950s American cars waiting to whisk you off into the city. • Basically, parking place. But pictures of monuments, such as the mural of Che Guevara well listed in the Guidebook. This alone is worth?

  • It pays to know the location where are made the main events of the Government. In this square are the ministries with the face of Che Guevara and Camilo Cienfuegos presenting alongside Fidel the revolutionary Act.

  • Cuban friends brought us here, so we looked at Revolution Square-Plaza de la Revolucion, and touched the Socialist Cuban history. The world's largest square is approximately 72000 square meters was established during President f. Batista and was called "Plaza Civica"-Civic square, and only after the Cuban revolution, has received international fame.

  • Very interesting site. When we were there, there was an exhibition of the 1950's cars that, are so common in Havana. They were amazingly maintained, although some had replaced the original engine with a new(er) one. Great photos and met done nice car enthusiasts.
  • Beautiful space to memorialize the revolution. The surrounding buildings are white and have very large likenesses of Cuban heroes, Jose Marti, Che Guevara and of course Fidel Castro. There is a tower like structure meant to remind the people to build on their success. Lots of operable antique vehicles that will take you wherever!
  • The famous square with the portraits of Che and another revolutionary on the side of the buildings. Now it's a great spot to see the restored old cars, which are all taxis now.
  • Very interesting to see where they hold all of the important rallies. Knowing that a million people can gather in the square seems impossible once you stand there. There isn't really much to do other than see it though so if time in Havana is limited, you might want to pass.
  • Amazing historical landmark. Havana has such a rich history.
