Visit the great public expanse of Revolution Plaza Havana, which provides the Cuban government with a base of operations and doubles as a site for large-scale political rallies and state speeches. Observe the giant steel depictions of Che Guevara and fellow guerillero, Camilo Cienfuegos, which adorn the facades of the governmental buildings. Gaze up at the towering 109 m (358 ft) star-shaped memorial, dedicated to national hero Jose Marti. Bring a camera to capture the square's architecture, as well as the beautiful examples of 1950s American cars waiting to whisk you off into the city. Revolution Plaza Havana Reviews
There is no way to escape stopping at Plaza De La Revolucion. Every tour will stop there for a few minutes. The Jose Marti Memorial is beautiful Have your guide explain why "Hasta La Victoria... more »
A massive open concrete square - with a huge tower monument, but lacking artistic and humane character. Surrounded by austere and grandiose images of Castro and Che. The tour bus visits this 3 times..... more »
A massive open place. I took a long walk to get there but you can also take a shared taxi, since the place is pretty far away from the center of Havana. I found it worth going just for the history of it and obviously for the pics. From there you can continue walking to cemetery Colon, definitely worth visiting.
Tons of History on tap here. Most of the major government buildings and departments/agencies surround the square. Having a tour guide or doing a little research on Wikipedia would be a good idea to be able to appreciate all that this place represents. Definitely a must-stop on your Havana tour!
