There's a place to sit where you can enjoy the zen gardens & pond in absolute serenity. Possibly the best visit out of the 8 temples I went to. The pathway to the temple has a beautiful mountain backdrop. The whole experience was truly marvelous. You don't need to wait for sakura season as many flowers here bloom before that as well.
A beautiful garden inside the Tenryuji Temple grounds. Totally worth the price of admission. Take your time and wander around to take in the sights and sounds (unless it is packed with Chinese tourists, in which case, ignore the sounds). No tripods allowed. Walk through to the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest.
