Hierve el Agua, Oaxaca

#3 of 171 in Things to do in Oaxaca
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Admire the scenic rock formations of Hierve el Agua, which resembles a frozen waterfall dropping from the cliffs. These calcified formations were built by mineral water trickling down the mountainside. Although their name means "water boils" in Spanish, the bubbling mineral pools are actually lukewarm and often even chilly. Take a dip in the springs, said to be beneficial for the skin, and enjoy the spectacular cliff views. Hierve el Agua is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our , world travel planner Edition.

  • Awesome experience. The 'waterfalls' and the the hills all around provide a great view. The natural infinity pool is not warm but once you're in its pretty refreshing.
  • Spectacular views and refreshing water pools to relax and take it all in. Some areas of the rocks are very slippery, so walk carefully around those parts. It was very busy on the afternoon that we went as there are many group tours that go each day
