Set in the former sultan's palace built on a hill in 1737-1738 after the English were expelled in 1684, the museum offers a diverse collection of artifacts ranging from prehistoric hand axes and spearheads and pre-Roman tools to Greek vases, Roman stele, 16th century jewelry, and Almohad ceramics. See exquisite floor mosaics taken from excavations of Volubilis (an ancient city) and a sculpture with bacchanalian feasts as well as an intricate map of ancient and present-day trade routes. Labels are in French and Arabic. Outside, view the sultan's garden off the main courtyard.
