El Toro Reviews
Love to comeback again to this place! Recommend for anybody wanna join with family of your wife/husband! more »
Enter from the WEST for a 3-hour medium-speed round trip with photo stops and time to enjoy the view at the top. Plenty of mud when we visited, but apparently better than before the storms. Shorts..... more »
This is basically the sole longer hike available in El Yunque National Forest, the only tropical rain forest in the US, after Hurricane Maria in Sept. 2017. It is a great 2.5 mile out and back hike with some rather steep climbs to a location with a 360 degree view, El Toro. El Toro is the second highest point in Puerto Rico and the highest mountain in El Yunque. Throughout the hike vegetation changes from Tabonuco Forest to Sierra Palm Forest and finally Elfin or Cloud Forest. A variety of interesting and endemic plants are to see and the local micro orchid Lepanthes eltoroensis only grows here and can be seen on trees along the trail.
A unique, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful experience. You Breathe peace and harmony. On the way you can appreciate the nature, countless different plants, flowers, high trees, insects, caterpillars, butterflies. A magical place with a breathtaking view. The way to the top is a wonderful challenge. You Get a good workout while enjoying nature. The Road is clean and free, maybe some long grasses and a small trunk, but that makes it more fun. The mud, up to the ankles, feels like a movie explorer. Has at the top enjoy a beautiful view, fresh air and a lot of peace.
