#15 of 64 in Nature in Puerto Rico
Island · Nature / Park
Cross the water to Gilligan's Island and spend time on the island named after the popular TV show. Several mangrove forests surround the island, which nurtures an environment rich in marine life. You will find calm, shallow water with a sandy bottom here; do not forget your snorkeling gear. As a very popular location for locals, the beaches fill up quickly on weekends, so head there early. You will not find shops or restaurants on the island, so take everything you need for the day. Those interested in more secluded beaches can consider renting a kayak from the coast and paddling to the island in an effort to choose your own beach. With our international travel planner, Playa de Guanica attractions like Gilligan's Island can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • If you come to Puerto Rico and don't see Gilligan's Island then you are missing out on this little oasis. We stayed at Copamarina and rented Kayaks and paddled over for a couple of hours. We took...  more »

  • Too much jelly fish! Not sure if this is a seasonal thing (October)
  • First time here. Heard very good things about the island,44 but I'm thinking that was before Maria. The staff is very rude. No customer service. They don't smile and acknowledge the customer. They gave us a menu for food without explaining that you have to order before you get in the boat. The water was clear and warm but the surroundings are awful. The bathrooms were nasty and they smelled. When we got back to the pier, we mentioned that there was telephone number indicated to order food and we called over 30 times and no one answered. Imagine if there's an emergency, the person would be in big trouble. No way of getting an emergency call. We mentioned we were not satisfied and were going to make negative comments in their page. The staffs response was "do as you want" PR is in desperate need of resources like tourism but these individuals are hurting the island with their rudeness. We were a big group from NY and we will never come back to Gilligan's Island.
