  • Seeing the gorillas up close was incredible. At one point I had a great stare-down experience with a teenage gorilla from only a few feet away. It was incredible to be so close to them.  more »
  • Always a great trekking experience with the knowledgeable guides and trackers. HQ wasn't too busy on the day we went trekking and the trek itself was challenging but not too intense. Of course you can do golden monkey trekking, hiking options and the awesome gorilla trekking
  • Wow. This is not a place for the out of shape. Our "medium" difficulty hike in Rwanda to our assigned gorilla family took 1.5 hours to drive to, then 1.5 hours to hike up to where they were. This was a 1.5 mile hike through rain forest with 1100 foot vertical ascent. The trail was 12 inches wide. One hour with the gorillas. Your limit to them is 7 meters (21 feet). We got way closer than that because they come to you, like 5 feet. Where else can you go and be safe to see some animals that share 98% of their DNA with us. They are very intelligent. Your other choices are Uganda or the DRC (Ebola......). Rwanda feels super safe.
