The reserve covers 300 hectares (740 acres) of grassy plains, shrubs, and forests. Accompanied by a professional caretaker, you will learn about and get close to the elephants in a hands-on experience allowing you to touch, hug, and swim with the gentle giants. Adventures with Elephants is a truly special place to visit and a unique experience and opportunity to interact with these amazing gentle giants. The elephants are rescued from untenable situations and given another chance to live their lives free from human cruelty. The friendly and knowledgeable staff will educate children and adults alike on the challenges of conservation, and the threats these majestic animals face. Each elephant has their own unique backstory on how they came to arrive at the sanctuary. Many are heartbreaking, but all have happy endings. The excitement builds as the rangers escort the herd through the bush toward the feeding area, where they will guide visitors through various interactions with the elephants as they go about their feeding routine. Visitors can touch the animals, feed them, kick a football around with them, and even get a kiss from an elephant! Once the animals are happily fed they will take visitors on a ride around the nature reserve. While this aspect may not appeal to everyone, I should point out that these are not your typical abused and overworked tourist elephants. Visitors can of course document the experience on their own devices, or purchase a DVD collection produced on-site by the staff. Visiting this elephant sanctuary and interacting with these special animals contributes to the important conservation work being done to ensure that future generations also have the opportunity to appreciate the awesome diversity and beauty of nature. Highly recommended!
