#1 of 296 in Wineries in South Africa
Groot Constantia represents one of South Africa's oldest wine estates, with origins dating back to the late 1600s. This fully operational farm boasts a rich 300-year history. Insired by the late Dutch Renaissance style, the site's original manor house featured white marble and red stone. You can take a bus tour to see best views of the vineyards and the estate itself, or take a guided cellar tour and experience first-hand how the wine is made. Be sure to stop at the estate's museum, which offers a glimpse into its rich history. Discover how to plan a Cape Town trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

  • The wine tasting has become to commercial. We entered and waited a while. No one approached us to assist. After calling someone over, they just explained that we will be assisted and walked away. After a while we again walked add asked for help. Made our payment for the wine tasting and was pointed to another counter where we waited again. After a while we were assisted. We did not feel welcomed at the place.
  • I’ve been here multiple times. Beautiful old winery with multiple venues and places to visit within the estate. The first building is a tasting room. If you proceed further in you get to the different restaurants and sitting areas. Very beautiful, large green open spaces , classical dutch architecture. Top wine farm in this area, a must see!
