    I've been there for many occasions and again the tour guide was excellent! The tea garden was not operational, because there was no power, no generator. The gardens are kept well, and the French outlay very interesting.

    The gardens are well kept in their original Form the way Mrs Marks planned it. Lovely to sit outside and enjoy the summer weather. The house itself is exceptional. The guides are well informed. Quite a lifestyle they had considering it was at the turn of the century and South Africa was at war. Walking through the rooms gave me an eerie feeling of discomfort. It was as though we were intruding in their family home.
