Trip Planner: Africa / South Africa / Western Cape / Cape Town / Table Mountain National Park / Cape Point
Take a tour of Cape Point, a dramatic seaside promontory and part of Table Mountain National Park, known for its scenic landscape and hiking trails. The narrow coastline, discovered in 1488 by Bartholomeu Dias, became famous as the birthplace of the "Flying Dutchman" legend. A bird-watching paradise, the area shelters more than 200 species, including the African penguin, as well as a variety of other creatures like Chacma baboon, fallow deer, whales, and the elusive Cape mountain zebra. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Cape Town holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Cape Point and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Cape Point reviews

What can you say, a bucket list type of place. I never thought I would ever get to the edge of the African continent, yet here we were. It is spectacular, as it the entire cape. more »
Beautiful view. But make sure you are wearing sneakers and something warm going up the mountain. The wind is extremely strong and the mountain rocks very slippery. Unfortunately with lower back pains, I could only walk to a certain level on the mountain. Would love to go back and do it again completely.
Absolute beautiful place! The sky was clear blue but the wind was extremely strong! A some points when climbing the top of the peak I was blown off my feet! The Díaz beach was breathtaking with white sand and blue/greenish waves. There is a very nice staircase build to go all the way down! Very comfortable!
