Paseo de la Princesa and Old San Juan are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Step out of the city life by going to El Yunque Rain Forest and Luquillo Beach. And it doesn't end there: explore the different monuments and memorials at Santa Maria Magdalena de Pazzis Cemetery, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Catedral Metropolitana Basilica de San Juan Bautista, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Sitio Histórico de San Juan.

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
On the 14th (Thu), take an in-depth tour of Fortin Conde de Mirasol Museum and then contemplate the waterfront views at Sun Bay Beach.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Start off your visit on the 15th (Fri): visit a coastal fixture at Culebrita Lighthouse and then enjoy the sand and surf at Flamenco Beach. On the 16th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: kick back and relax at Playa Punta Soldado Beach, stroll through Zoni Beach, and then enjoy the sand and surf at Brava Beach.

Getting from Isla de Vieques to Culebra by car takes about 4 hours. Other options: ride a ferry. In September in Culebra, expect temperatures between 89°F during the day and 79°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Sun) so you can travel to Ponce.

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Start off your visit on the 17th (Sun): step off the mainland to explore Isla de Caja de Muertos and then take in the waterfront at La Guancha.
