The capital of French Polynesia, Pape'ete amounts to little more than a medium-sized town by Western standards, but it is still a thriving hub of culture and commerce.
Kick off your visit on the 1st (Wed): browse the eclectic array of goods at Municipal Market, steep yourself in history at James Norman Hall Home, and then admire the sheer force of Faarumai Waterfalls. On the 2nd (Thu), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: examine the collection at Musee de la perle et Bijouterie, then get engrossed in the history at Museum of Tahiti and the Islands, and then stop by Papeete Roulottes.

Spanning an area of the South Pacific as large as Western Europe, French Polynesia includes 118 islands and atolls scattered across the blue ocean.
