For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Escape the urban bustle at Sun Bay and Blue Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Media Luna Beach and Caracas Beach. The adventure continues: look for all kinds of wild species at Vieques National Wildlife Refuge, visit a coastal fixture at Puerto Ferro Lighthouse, stroll through Secret Beach, and take a leisurely stroll along Mosquito Pier.

With much of Culebra a nature refuge, the tropical island has been protected from overdevelopment, chain hotels, and the cruise set.
Step out of the city life by going to Flamenco Beach and Zoni Beach. Your itinerary includes some good beach time at Tamarindo Beach and Playa Punta Soldado Beach. Next up on the itinerary: head off the coast to Culebrita Island, stop by Zinkowski Art Studio, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Carlos Rosario Beach.

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Start off your visit on the 7th (Fri): admire the masterpieces at Museo de Arte de Ponce, examine the collection at Parque de Bombas, then see the interesting displays at El Museo Castillo Serralles, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of our Lady of Guadeloupe. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the 8th (Sat): get to know the fascinating history of La Guancha.
