The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Get in touch with nature at Nijino Matsubara and Ohori Park. Head to AMU PLAZA HAKATA and Hakata Hankyufor plenty of shopping. Venture out of the city with trips to Dazaifu (Dazaifu Tenman-gū & Kōmyōzen-ji Temple), Yoshinogari Historical Park (in Yoshinogari-cho) and Tosu Premium Outlets (in Tosu). There's more to do: step off the mainland to explore Nokonoshima Island and don't miss a visit to Tenjin Underground City.

Singapore, Singapore to Fukuoka is an approximately 9.5-hour flight. You'll lose 1 hour traveling from Singapore to Fukuoka due to the time zone difference. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Singapore in September; daily highs in Fukuoka reach 32°C and lows reach 24°C. Kick off your visit on the 15th (Fri): see the interesting displays at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, make a trip to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, then get engrossed in the history at Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, then pause for some photo ops at Atomic Bomb Dome, and finally explore the historical opulence of Hiroshima Castle. On your second day here, take in the spiritual surroundings of Miyajima and then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Itsukushima Shrine.

Traveling by train from Fukuoka to Hiroshima takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of flight and ferry. In September, daytime highs in Hiroshima are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Your inner history buff will appreciate Nijo Castle and Kiyomizu-dera. Get some cultural insight at Gion and Kinkaku-ji. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Osaka (Osaka Castle & Dotonbori) and Nara (Tōdai-ji & Todaiji Temple Cultural Center). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Fushimi Inari Taisha, admire the natural beauty at Shosei-en Garden, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Katsura Imperial Villa.

Take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of ferry, flight, and train. In September in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 34°C during the day and 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 21st (Thu) to allow time to take a train to Tokyo.
