Surrounded by lakes and featuring impressive areas of geothermal landscape, the city of Rotorua offers an otherwordly landscape and a welcoming, peaceful environment, with the culture of the native Maori people very much in the foreground.
Get outdoors at Waimangu Volcanic Valley and River Rafting & Tubing. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Mt Maunganui Main Beach and Blue Lake Track. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rotorua: Mount Maunganui (Mount Maunganui Summit Track & Mount Maunganui Base Track). The adventure continues: trot along with a tour on horseback, witness a stunning natural landmark at Te Puia, tour the pleasant surroundings at Paradise Valley Springs Wildlife Park, and learn about winemaking at Volcanic Hills Winery.

Leipzig, Germany to Rotorua is an approximately 34-hour combination of flight and bus. You can also do a combination of train, flight, and bus. Traveling from Leipzig to Rotorua, you'll lose 11 hours due to the time zone difference. Expect much warmer temperatures when traveling from Leipzig in February; daily highs in Rotorua reach 28°C and lows reach 19°C. The resort town of Taupo lies on the banks of Lake Taupo, the largest body of water in the whole of Australasia.
Start off your visit on the 8th (Tue): take in the natural beauty of Orakei Korako Geothermal Park & Cave, then take in the dramatic scenery at Huka Falls Walkway, and then push the limits with an extreme tour. On the 9th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour and then take in the dramatic natural features at Spa Thermal Park and Riverbank Recreational and Scenic Reserve.

Paihia

The main tourist town in the Bay of Islands area, Paihia gives visitors a good range of accommodations, a convenient town center, long sandy beaches, and interesting architecture.
Kick off your visit on the 10th (Thu): stroll through The Parrot Place, admire the sheer force of Rainbow Falls, and then fulfill a lifelong dream with a swim-with-the-dolphins experience. On the next day, tour the pleasant surroundings at Paihia Harbour, then steep yourself in history at Waitangi Treaty Grounds, and then identify plant and animal life at Wildlife Areas.

Wanaka

Situated on the shores of Lake Wanaka in the Otago region, Wanaka has become a popular ski and summer resort area, owing to its extensive views of the lake and its proximity to some of the best slopes in the country.
Get outdoors at Lake Wanaka and Canyoning & Rappelling Tours. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Roys Peak Track and Mount Iron Track. The adventure continues: glide through the air with a parasailing or paragliding tour and contemplate the waterfront views at Wanaka.

Fox Glacier

A trip to Fox Glacier brings you close to one of New Zealand's most easily accessible natural wonders.
Step out of the city life by going to Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier South Side Walk. Step off the beaten path and head to Hooker Valley Track and Fox Glacier Hiking Trails. Next up on the itinerary: take in the pleasant sights at Lake Matheson Walk, see the world from above with a helicopter tour, kick back and relax at Gillespies Beach, and trek along Moraine Walk.
