Once synonymous with the mysterious and inaccessible Shangri-La, today Kathmandu draws an ever-increasing number of tourists, catering to independent travelers of various budgets.
Kick off your visit on the 27th (Tue): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Boudhanath Stupa, then wander the streets of Pottery Square, then admire the masterpieces at Patan Museum, and finally contemplate the long history of Kathmandu Durbar Square. On the 28th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: see the sights as you ascend with a climbing tour.

Valletta, Malta to Kathmandu is an approximately 21-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Nepal Time, which is usually a 4 hour difference. While traveling from Valletta, expect a bit warmer days and slightly colder nights in Kathmandu, ranging from highs of 25°C to lows of 7°C. Fly from Kathmandu to Paro in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and car; or do a combination of car, train, taxi, and bus. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Kathmandu in March, with highs in Paro at 20°C and lows at 5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 1st (Thu) so you can drive to Punakha.

Traveling from Paro in March, things will get somewhat warmer in Kathmandu: highs are around 29°C and lows about 11°C. You will have some time to spend on the 12th (Mon) before leaving for Pokhara.
