Santa Cruz remains synonymous with surfing, but this counterculture bastion offers plenty even if you don't plan to catch any waves.

On the 19th (Mon), delve into the mystery of Mystery Spot, then take a leisurely stroll along Santa Cruz Wharf, and then cruise along West Cliff Drive. Monterey to Santa Cruz is an approximately 1-hour car ride. You can also take a bus. In June, daytime highs in Santa Cruz are 72°F, while nighttime lows are 52°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 20th (Tue) so you can go by car to Monterey.

Monterey is a city in the U.S. Take a break from Monterey with a short trip to Bixby Bridge in Big Sur, about 30 minutes away. There's lots more to do: meet the residents at Monterey Bay Aquarium, appreciate the extensive heritage of Cannery Row, take in the architecture and atmosphere at San Carlos Cathedral, and admire all the interesting features of 17-Mile Drive.
