Set in the heart of one of the United States' most esteemed wine-producing regions, just 45 minutes from San Francisco, Sonoma boasts colonial Mexican architecture, including a mission.
On the 3rd (Sun), admire the architecture and history at Mission San Francisco Solano, appreciate the views at Sonoma Valley, and then admire the majestic nature at Jack London State Historic Park. On your second day here, indulge your taste buds at Food & Drink.

Fresno to Sonoma is an approximately 4-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Prepare for a bit cooler weather when traveling from Fresno in September: high temperatures in Sonoma hover around 79°F and lows are around 50°F. On the 5th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive to Santa Rosa.

Located less than an hour's drive north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa serves as a convenient hub for travelers on their way to the world-famous Napa Valley wine country.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Point Reyes Lighthouse and Ferrari-Carano Vineyards and Winery. Venture out of the city with trips to Stephen & Walker Winery (in Healdsburg) and St. Helena (Charles Krug Winery & Beringer Vineyards). Dedicate the 6th (Wed) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. The adventure continues: identify plant and animal life at Safari West, learn about winemaking at VJB Vineyard & Cellars, and examine the collection at Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center.
