Wakayama

— 5 nights
Split into two parts by the Kinokawa River, the city of Wakayama stands nestled in the eponymous plain, overlooked by a historic hilltop castle that was rebuilt after World War II. On a tour of Wakayama, you'll have the chance to take day trips to the prefecture's numerous natural and historic sights, as the town has good connections and also provides easy access to Osaka and Nara.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Wakayama: Koya-cho (Kongobu-ji Temple, Koyasan Okunoin, &more) and Kobe (Onsen Resorts, Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens, &more). There's still lots to do: explore the historical opulence of Wakayama Castle, browse the eclectic array of goods at Kuroshio Market, take in the spiritual surroundings of Kimiidera Temple, and admire the natural beauty at Momijidani Garden.

To find other places to visit, reviews, photos, and more tourist information, refer to the Wakayama trip itinerary builder website.

If you are flying in from Malaysia, the closest major aiports are Kansai International Airport, Osaka International Airport and Takamatsu Airport. Expect a daytime high around 19°C in November, and nighttime lows around 13°C.
