Chinguetti is a ksar or a Berber medieval trading center in northern Mauritania, located on the Adrar Plateau east of Atar.Founded in the 13th century as the center of several trans-Saharan trade routes, this small city continues to attract a handful of visitors who admire its spare architecture, scenery and ancient libraries. Dakar, Senegal to Chinguetti is an approximately 17.5-hour car ride. You can also do a combination of flight and car. Expect somewhat warmer temperatures when traveling from Dakar in March; daily highs in Chinguetti reach 38°C and lows reach 26°C. On the 24th (Tue), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel to Ouadane.

Ouadane or Wādān is a small town in the desert region of central Mauritania, situated on the southern edge of the Adrar Plateau, 93 km northeast of Chinguetti. Start off your visit on the 25th (Wed): explore the ancient world of Ancient Ksour of Ouadane, Chinguetti, Tichitt and Oualata.

Nouakchott is known for parks, shopping, and historic sites.
