Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Start off your visit on the 25th (Sat): explore the world behind art at Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, then get a new perspective on things with Boat Tours & Water Sports, and then take an unforgettable tour with a helicopter tour. When traveling from San Juan in September, plan for a bit cooler days and about the same nights in Ponce: temperatures range from 85°F by day to 76°F at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 27th (Mon) early enough to travel to Isla de Vieques.

Isla de Vieques

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Kick off your visit on the 28th (Tue): enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Navio, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Caracas, and then stroll through Playa La Chiva. On the 29th (Wed), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take a leisurely stroll along Malecon, add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour, and then kick back and relax at Balneario Sun Bay.
