New Delhi, India to Darvaza is an approximately 15- hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Traveling from New Delhi to Darvaza, you'll gain 0.5 hours due to the time zone difference. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 6th (Sun) to allow enough time to drive to Ashgabat.

A Soviet-like grid of opulent marble edifices in the center of the desert, Ashgabat paints an unusual picture.
On the 7th (Mon), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Ertugrul Gazi Mosque, see the interesting displays at Turkmen Carpet Museum, appreciate the history behind Independence Monument, then get engrossed in the history at Ashgabat National Museum of History, and finally don't miss a visit to Monument Arch of Neutrality. On the 8th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: admire the striking features of Wedding Palace, explore the ancient world of Parthian Settlement of Nisa, then make a trip to Gypjak Mosque, and finally identify plant and animal life at Kow Ata Underground Lake.

Drive from Darvaza to Ashgabat in 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train. In October in Ashgabat, expect temperatures between 26°C during the day and 12°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Tue) so you can travel to Dushanbe.

Dushanbe, Tajikistan

Little more than a small town at the turn of the 20th century, Dushanbe grew rapidly during the Soviet era and now serves as the national capital and home to nearly 800,000 people.
Change things up with these side-trips from Dushanbe: Nurek Dam (in Nurek) and Hisor Fortress (in Hisor). There's lots more to do: walk around Rudaki Park, make a trip to Flagpole with the Flag of Tajikistan, get engrossed in the history at National Museum of Tajikistan, and get a taste of the local shopping with NOOR ART GALLERY.

Getting from Ashgabat to Dushanbe by flight takes about 11 hours. Other options: do a combination of taxi, train, and flight; or take a train. Traveling from Ashgabat in October, Dushanbe is a bit cooler at night with lows of 8°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sat) so you can travel back home.
