Lychakiv Cemetery, Lviv

4.7
Home to the graves of soldiers, famous figures, nobles, and a host of ornate tombs, Lychakiv Cemetery stands as one of Ukraine's largest necropolises. Visit the massive cemetery, with more than 400,000 graves, and explore its 86 different plots spread out over 42 hectares (104 acres). You can join a guided tour in order to see a selection of the most notable graves and figures laid to rest here. Don't miss seeing the plot dedicated to the "Defenders of Lwow," an ornate memorial commemorating the efforts of Lviv's young Polish defenders during the Polish-Ukrainian War from 1918 to 1919. If you want to use a camera in the cemetery, you'll need to pay a small fee. Before you visit Lviv, use our trip planner to discover what you can do and see there.

  • Very clean and the museum is a cemetery... Really worth seeing. It's pretty big. The statues are dazzling.

  • Lychakiv Cemetery is the "iron" point of the program of all Polish tours to Lviv. Most Poles are only associated with the Polish cemetery, but the fact has become that the remains of people of different nationalities are resting there. This is due to the fact that in the past the city authorities banned burials at the church cemeteries and, alternatively, several large cemeteries were created, the largest of which is in Łyczakowie. We are looking for graves of the great Poles, and there are many of them: Konopnicka, Zapolska, Szajnocha, Belza, Ordon, Banach, Grottger. There are tombs modest, but there are also real art works. The latter are particularly attracted to the attention. There are also huge tombos, such as the Tomb of the Baczewski family. It is difficult to find them, so it is best to go on a guided tour. We have previously booked a tour with Kumpel-Tour. Janusz's Guide was a mistake for us after the cemetery.

  • Very quiet place, good for walking and calming down
  • Beautiful graveyard. Nice to have a stroll around the grounds. There is a small fee for entering.
