  • The exterior and landscaping needs quite a bit of work. When you get close, it's actually a bit of an eyesore. Best to view at a distance, it looks great then!  more »

  • Svyato Voskresenskii Cathedral - the main Orthodox church of Sumy, the oldest stone building in the city, an excellent example of Ukrainian Baroque. The cathedral was built at the turn of the XVII-XVIII centuries. at the expense of the founder of the city G. Kondratiev and his son A. Kondratiev. According to legend, during the construction, Kondratieff's sister Maria, the chieftain of a robber gang, was immured into the wall of the temple. The architecture of the two-storey stone cathedral repeats the traditional forms of Ukrainian wooden church architecture - it looks like three-cossack Cossack churches. Judging by the thickness of the walls (up to 1.5 m), the characteristic shape of the window-loopholes and the location on the former line. city fortifications, the Resurrection Cathedral was part of the Sumy defense system. An underground passage led to the river, which is now filled. In Soviet times, there was a department of decorative and applied art of the art museum. After 1991, the Resurrection Church was returned to believers, and is now the cathedral church of the Sumy Diocese of the UOC Kiev Patriarchate.
  • Excellent Sunday school, a child with such pleasure walks. The teachers are all friendly, lead interesting, in a playful manner. Excursions are generally impressions for the whole year! The father is wonderful, can answer any question. And the cathedral itself-monumental, you feel such an aura and want to pray in it...
