A bustling promenade offering shopping, dining, and entertainment, Downtown Disney District is an outdoor area within the sprawling Disney resort in Anaheim. Often called the resort's "shoppertainment center," the area lies between two theme parks and their hotels. Opened in 2001 as part of the resort's massive expansion, this entertainment district encourages extended stays in the popular Disney-themed entertainment complex. The district provides free parking for up to five hours, so you can take your time to enjoy a hearty meal and a few cocktails at an open-air cafe, shop at one of the largest Disney stores in the world, or explore a range of outdoor entertainment options, nightclubs, and movie theaters. Put Downtown Disney District and other Anaheim attractions into our Anaheim road trip planner, and watch your holiday take shape.

There were a lot of social distancing markers and cast members that were always on top of all guests following mask use protocols. I felt safe and confident to go in and out of shops, have lunch and..... more »

The Disney product push is on in full steam here! Crowded and expensive. There are plenty of shops and opportunity to do the disney thing. Food options are better elsewhere. more »

Super fun place before you enter "The Happiest Place on Earth". We wanted to go to Salt & Straw while on vacation so we walked around Downtown Disney for about 3 hours - seeing the cute attractions, visiting the shops, and eating some food. Salt & Straw ice cream was amazing as was the food at Earl's sandwich shop. Very fun atmosphere for any age.

We went on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised at how smooth the trip was, from ease of parking to security line to enter. There were plenty of parking spaces. Be prepared to open bags and walk through a metal detector to enter. Parking was free with $20 validation at a single store. The highlights for us were the Lego store and Salt & Straw ice cream. I recommend visiting for a fun weekend trip with the family.
