We went in August 2017 and stayed in Fish Camp. Thus, with Mariposa Grove closed for restoration, we had to find an alternative location to see Giant Sequoias. This place is a little bit out of the wa...  more »

Near Tenaya Lodge just south of the Yosemite entry, there is a trio of trails here which allow for a very pleasant day outing. The hiking is moderate and on the way you will pass a good many Giant Seq...  more »

This is an easy hike through a grove of Giant Sequoias in the National Forest. We took our grandkids ages 10-16 and they loved it. Once you leave the paved road, the dirt road in is a bit hazardous an...  more »

We came here after doing two days in Yosemite Valley. Of course the valley is beautiful, but it was such a relief to get away from people and have a trail to ourselves. And the giant sequoias! Yowza! This time of year the trails were wet, and we had to climb over downed trees across the trail, but that only made me love it more. Totally worth a stop. The route there was twisty, and it was a pitted uphill dirt road at the end, but our rental Malibu made it up just fine.

Skip the crowds and have a truly unique Big-Tree viewing experience. I've seen many of the Sequoia groves. The Nelder Grove is my favorite

What a find... Better than other parks to see Sequoias. Beautiful park.

Gorgeous short hiking loop among Sequoia trees and other flora and fauna. Easy trail with little elevation but gets narrow and could be slippery in poor weather conditions. Outhouse is the only facility in the parking lot. The drive to get here from the main road is winding and challenging. Suggest truck/SUV or decent car to get here.

If you want an out of the way, way-way-way out in the woods to see something really cool then you need to go to Nelder Grove. It is home of several really big Giant Sequoia’s, one of which is called Bull Buck. It’s the 3rd oldest living thing currently on earth (or so I was told). Over 2700 years old. It’s about 85-feet in circumference at about 4-feet high. Most of the trails are 1-1/2 miles or less with one being over 5-miles. Bull Buck is on one just over a mile so it’s good for a family even with small children. A picture cannot do justice to the awe-inspiring reaction you’ll get from laying eyes on them.
