  • It was the most colorful area of Death Valley. The 27 mile one way off road drive starts out near Rhyolite and took me through amazing landscape vistas of Red Pass, and through winding steep roads wit...  more »
  • Once you begin, there is no turning back on this narrow, one way road. The park doesn't provide mileage or much information on the trip. Things to know: there are some very windy bits of the road, som...  more »
  • One of the many great and impressive roads in the SW of USA . On this one you will reach the Titus Canyon. If you leave Beatty/NV westbound on the 374, after around 4 miles you will notice a sign and ...  more »

  • A regular car cannot access this place! You need a 4 wheel drive vehicle with at least a foot of ground clearance. The road is steep, windy and dangerous for novice drivers. Not for the faint of heart. Once you start you cannot turn back. It is a narrow 1 way road and follows the side of a mountain with steep hundred foot drops. But well worth it! Gorgeous views await those who dare.
  • Amazing views and an amazing canyon. One lane dirt road from Nevada into California. 4x4 recommended.
  • Easily the top activity to do in Death Valley. You can access the canyon 2 ways: by foot, from the west side, or by vehicle. Without a doubt, I recommend the latter. Roughly a 4 hour drive, this will take you outside the park, towards Beatty, then back in. You'll be driving on rough, dirt roads so check with the park rangers on conditions and vehicle recommendations. You'll be driving over rocks, washboards, over mountain passes, through ghost towns, and ultimately a slot canyon. When we drove, in the winter, there was several inches of fresh snow at the top of the pass (up several steep switchbacks), so 4x4, high clearance suv or truck was recommended. Ultimately, the views, adventure, and the quiet are totally worth the drive! Also, recommend writer if you can plan it... The beauty was only heightened by the snowy peaks!
