Manoa Falls, Honolulu
Falling more than 46 m (150 ft), Manoa Falls sparkles against a sheer rock face. Take a 2.4 km (1.5 mi) hike through tall trees with twisted trunks and thick greenery to reach the falls. The pathway is often slippery, so wear shoes with a good grip. Then be prepared to take these shoes off to wade in the shallow pool at the base of the waterfall. Manoa Falls Reviews
It was drizzly most of the time up to the falls and back. Everything was wet and slippery It was still a fairly easy hike. I wouldn’t recommend more children than adults for easier pairing off for the... more »
We did the hike in April and the waterfall was not to impressive, but the hike was a good one, lots of rocks and mud so be prepared for a muddy walk. more »
This was a relatively easy hike. Most of the trail has a nice gravel base there were a few areas that were a bit tricky to navigate but nothing difficult. There was one location where I grabbed a root to help steady myself. I don't recall any handrails along the route. Pro Tip: bring a poncho. We didn't bring rain gear and we got absolutely SOAKED. It was sprinkling as we departed on our walk and it started raining harder and harder as we climbed. There was a lot of water running down and across the trail as we hiked. There were many places to stop and take photos along the way. The good thing is that the falls were very productive because all of the recent rainfall. The rain stopped as we got to the top - we experienced a few sprinkles on our way down. All in all it was a nice hike.
Do yourself a favor and either wear a good pair of hiking boots or sandals that you don't mind getting muddy. The trail is not that bad going to the falls, but the closer you get the wetter and muddier it gets. Would recommend that if you have knee or ankle problems that you take your time. It can get slippery. Great for people of all ages and worth the adventure!
