  • Plan to spend some time exploring and taking it all in. Truly lovely. We went in January but would love to go in various seasons to see the changes. Worth the drive  more »
  • Want to see a big tree? The General Sheman tree is the world's largest tree, measured by volume. It stands 275 feet (83 m) tall, and is over 36 feet (11 m) in diameter at the base. Sequoia trunks rema...  more »
  • Hidden gem as far as I'm concerned. Being from the east, we had not even heard of King's Canyon NP until we did the research prior to this trip. The views along the drive in the actual canyon are magn...  more »

  • It is beautiful. A real way to escape the pressures of society. The natural beauty is so calming and relaxing. There is good security and the wildlife doesn't bother you. The bathrooms are flush so that is good. The night skies are beautifully lit up naturally by the starlight. All the rangers are friendly and well trained to help out in any situation, and they are always patrolling so you will never have to worry if there is an emergency. There is some phone signal up there so you won't be stranded.
  • The Kings Canyon National Park was very beautiful and I enjoy looking at all the nature. The environment is very peaceful and love the trails which are easy to follow. The accessories in the shop are very cool and unique. To sum up, the park was amazing and I would highly recommend this park for anyone.
  • Informative visitor center at Grant Grove with interactive displays and movie. Hike at General Grant Tree. Choose the nature trail off the paved trail - in winter or summer. Walk up Moro Rock in summer for a great view.
  • Love love love this park...just be careful especially with precipitation. Have seen people drive off the mountain and not be found for months. Beautiful views if you can make the drive. Not for people scared of heights. Starts at like 8,000 feet. Beginners should try the Sequioa park first.
  • One of my favorite places in California. Love the nature, makes you feel in another planet. Super beautiful ride. Easy access.

Where to stay in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks provide plenty of lodging right inside their boundaries. Kings Canyon operates three lodges and a set of cabins, with two of the lodges and the cabins remaining open throughout the year. Of these, the John Muir Lodge sits closest to the entrance. The parks also offer more than a dozen campgrounds about equally distributed between them, with most operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites fill up quickly on Friday nights in summer, but you should be able to find a place for your tent any other time during the week. Your accommodation options expand if you look along Sierra Road to the west of the parks. Motels, nature resorts, inns, bed and breakfasts, and lodges line the road, which runs alongside the North Fork Kaweah River.
