Moro Rock, Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

4.9
#1 of 13 in Outdoors in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park
Rising high above the Sequoia and Kings Canyon national parks, Moro Rock offers some of the best views in the area. Almost all of the park areas can be seen from the top of this 2,050 m (6,725 ft) tall granite monolith. The rock's vertical sides are nesting grounds of peregrine falcons, as well as rock climbers' heaven. If scaling sheer cliffs isn't your favorite way of getting around, head for the 400 steps that lead to the summit. Even though you'll have railings and rest areas, the stairway is steep, and the hike up can be strenuous. The rest areas provide nice views for those who don't like the heights or who can't make it all the way to the summit. The steps might be inaccessible during bad weather. • Moro rock place well marked, parking a bit small but there is a spare drive very often, 600 steps, a bit challenging, with some narrow passage but the effort is repaid in full once you get to the top! you see everything the Park practically and mountains! If you happen on a nice day smokeless fire that clouds the air is truly a scenic spot as few are doing so little effort! usually for a panorama like you have to walk hours to get on top of a mountain! to see!

  • Sequoia National Park’s main draw is the giant Sequoias, but the park has some gorgeous views and vistas to offer as well. One of them is from the top on Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park. The Sierra...  more »
  • On a mountain climb in any case. The highest point is at a height of 2095 meters on the sea level. The distance is not great and not very steep. But the track upstairs gradually narrowed and sometimes ignore those who have managed to climb and enjoy great views.

Where to stay in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Park

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks provide plenty of lodging right inside their boundaries. Kings Canyon operates three lodges and a set of cabins, with two of the lodges and the cabins remaining open throughout the year. Of these, the John Muir Lodge sits closest to the entrance. The parks also offer more than a dozen campgrounds about equally distributed between them, with most operating on a first-come, first-served basis. Campsites fill up quickly on Friday nights in summer, but you should be able to find a place for your tent any other time during the week. Your accommodation options expand if you look along Sierra Road to the west of the parks. Motels, nature resorts, inns, bed and breakfasts, and lodges line the road, which runs alongside the North Fork Kaweah River.
