One of the city’s most famous monuments, Arc de Triomphe honors those who died fighting in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, and consists of four main sculptures. This location also marks the central spot where the avenues radiate out of Place de l'Étoile. See the names of French victories and generals inscribed on its inner and outer surfaces. Inside the monument, you can view a permanent exhibit conceived by artist Maurice Benayoun and architect Christophe Girault exploring the symbolism of this and other national monuments in regards to war and peace. Beneath its vault lies the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier" from World War I. Worth seeing purely because it’s so famous, but really nothing spectacular. We struggled to find the way in until we spotted brown signs directing to the subway. Saw a few who obviously couldn’t...

An iconic sight. Extraordinarily beautiful architecture that is truly triumphant. Pictures don't do justice for how large this monument is in size. Buy a ticket in advance to catch the view from the top where you get an absolutely undisturbed view of the Eiffel Tower amongst other classic sights. It’s a number of steps up and down a spiral staircase but it’s worth the trip up if you can make it. There are also toilets on the floor before the terrace. An absolute must visit when in Paris.

Fantastic view of Paris. Easy access with a metro stop at the base. Relatively cheap. 13 euros per adult. Students get in for free, but still have to get a ticket (free). Great short video at the top explaining the history behind the famous Arch.
