Hassan Tower, a partially completed minaret of an unfinished mosque, now represents part of a World Heritage Site. Started in 1195, the minaret was half its intended height when its founder Sultan Yaqub al-Mansur died just before the turn of the century. The tower was left as it was, with a height of 44 m (140 ft), with work on the rest of the mosque also halted. Constructed from red sandstone, the structure has a striking appearance, its Moorish design reminiscent of towers and churches scattered across Spain. • Modern mosque. Beautiful just to walk around outside. Lovely views of Atlantic Ocean surrounding this huge place of worship.

  • Interesting historically and architecturally. You can only see it from afar due to Covid but you can still take good pictures from outside, as well as of the horse mounted royal guards. I lucked out with a foggy day, which added drama to my pictures.
  • This site is really impressive. The way the culture is emphasized and the experience you can build from the prayers and chanting inside. It was definitely worth the visit!
