Discover a lush tropical escape by hiking El Yunque National Forest, noted for its remarkable biological diversity. The only tropical rainforest under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Forest Service, this verdant area shelters more than 400 plant species, many of which you can see by hiking any one of a dozen well-maintained hiking trails. An interpretative visitor's center highlights the importance of this sprawling forest, while picnic pavilions ensure enough space to rest and contemplate the significance of this green kingdom in eastern Puerto Rico. Check the website for suggested family-friendly hikes and a printable brochure explaining the history of the forest. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been, and I’ve been all over. Short hike into a beautiful river with all sorts of places to relax in the water, or if you’re braver to jump in. If you go up river just a little there’s even a natural slide down to a short drop. So amazing.

Go swimming in “the valley” river!!!! It was so much fun we wanted to go back every day of our vacation. Such a beautiful experience and the walk to get to it isn’t bad. If you can- look up Rupert’s Forest Tours and go with him. Such a great guy and tour guide. Made our experience amazing and was such a good priced tour.
