One of the seven wonders of St. Helena, Jacob's Ladder connects the valley grounds to a fort on top of the hill. With a total of 699 steps, the steep stairway clambers up a rocky slope, with dizzying views of the sea and island. Once a mere rope ladder, today the repaired stairs each measure approximately 30 cm (11 inches) high and deep. Lighting at night makes it possible to climb at any time. Very steep but a must do when on St Helena. Make sure you attend the museum and have a look around along with submitting your time.

Must-do walk. Unique experience with a fun view and St. Helena's most populous town at the top. Going down is definitely harder on the knees than going up. Try to do it when it's not a million degrees out.

Many will tell you it takes an hour to conquer these 700 steps. Many are WRONG. I took on this flight of stairs and finished them in 4 minutes, whilst saving a tumbling tourist down the stairs. This doubled my time up the stairs, but I saved a life. #Hero#Lifesaver#God
