Founded by the Spanish in 1521, San Juan is the oldest city under U.S. jurisdiction and one of the oldest in the Americas.
Make the 3rd (Sun) a memorable day with a climbing tour. Spend the 2nd (Sat) peacefully gliding across the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area. There's much more to do: skim along the rocks with a canyoning and rapelling tour, don't miss a visit to Plaza de La Democracia, get to know the fascinating history of Paseo de la Princesa, and savor the flavors at Food & Drink.

Isla de Vieques — 2 nights

For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Start off your visit on the 9th (Sat): kick back and relax at Playa Caracas and then enjoy the sand and surf at Playa La Chiva. On the 10th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: stroll through Balneario Sun Bay and then add some adventure to your tour with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

Adjuntas — 2 nights

Adjuntas is a small mountainside municipality in Puerto Rico located central midwest of the island on the Cordillera Central, north of Yauco, Guayanilla and Peñuelas; southeast of Utuado; east of Lares and Yauco; and west of Ponce. On the 11th (Mon), get interesting insight from Cacique Eco Adventure Tanama and then whizz through the canopy at some of the top local zipline courses and adventure parks. Keep things going the next day: Head underground at Aventura Cueva Ventana and then explore the activities along Lago Garzas.

Traveling by combination of ferry and car from Isla de Vieques to Adjuntas takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or do a combination of ferry, taxi, bus, and car. In July, plan for daily highs up to 86°F, and evening lows to 76°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 12th (Tue) early enough to go by car to San Juan.
